Today, Studio Q is a modern print studio with deep roots in design and craftsmanship. Based in Auckland and working with clients across Aotearoa and beyond, we specialise in everything from everyday essentials like business cards and brochures to high-end invitations, custom packaging, and gallery-worthy art prints.

Our team combines traditional techniques like letterpress and hot foil stamping with modern digital precision — all crafted in-house for control, consistency, and care.

Where We Started

Studio Q began not as a print shop, but as a design agency — a place focused on branding, layout, and visual communication. But over time, we fell in love with print. There was something deeply satisfying about taking an idea from the screen to the page — making it physical, tactile, and lasting.

Founder Dave Trotter realised that the magic happened not just in designing well, but in producing beautifully. That great design, paired with the craftsmanship of print, opened up a space for excellence — one that drew on creativity, problem-solving, and technical precision all at once.

That’s when Studio Q evolved into what it is today: a creative print studio where design thinking meets hands-on making.

The Craft Behind the Name

From short-run digital work to complex multi-process jobs, we work across a full range of finishes — including letterpress, foiling, embossing, debossing, and custom die-cutting. When we brought Laserfoil into the fold, it expanded both our capacity and our skillset, especially in the world of specialty embellishment.

Today, it’s just one part of what we do — but it’s a key chapter in how we got here.
